Description: 821A— is the first multi-track belt machine not to use a transformer. It does not have a capstan or pressure roller, so the tape path moves freely without resistance or deterioration of the audio signal.
For the first time, engineers and producers were able to hear the physics of the recording process without interference from redundant electronics. They felt the constant sound of the tape and could provide customers with a clearer picture of what was captured on the studio floor.
The P821 MDN Tape is based on the Stephens 821 2 "personal tape machine" by Mark Daniel Nelson, which was used in Producer's Workshop, known for producing cult albums such as The Wall, Aja, Rumours and others.
The signature sound of the P821 is very open and has a bright sound character, since the tape recorder has almost no electronics and no transformers, which makes the sound stage massive and without aggressive compression or compression. This is the first plugin of its kind where you actually hear TAPE and its reactions.
Now hearing the P821 MDN Tape plugin recreates the same experience. It's really incredible and unlike anything else.
